Skidaway Island State Park, located at 52 Diamond Causeway in Savannah, GA, is not just a beautiful spot for outdoor fun—it’s also a fantastic location for activating Parks on the Air (POTA).
On this cool winter day, remnants of winter storm Enzo lingered, with patches of snow gleaming in the sunlight. I set up my Xeigu G90, ready to connect with fellow enthusiasts. The crisp air and serene surroundings made each contact even more exciting.
Whether enjoying a warm meal with friends or making radio connections, Skidaway Island State Park offers the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable POTA adventure!
During my activation at Skidaway Island State Park, I operated on 40 meters, successfully making eleven contacts. It was thrilling to engage with fellow operators, with the closest contact being AB4KN, who was just about 85 miles away in the heart of Georgia. The farthest contact stretched my reach to K4WKP, located a remarkable distance of approximately 279 miles away. This activation took place on January 26, 2025, and it felt incredible to connect with hams from such diverse locations while surrounded by the natural beauty of the park.
What I loved most about this park was how easy it was to get there and the great facilities available on site.
